Google Ads is testing a new way to help businesses capture customer information through a lead form extension.

Steven Johns discovered this new ad extension, noting that he can access it in his EGO Power+ Austria account:

In the screenshot shared in the tweet above, you can see how the new ad extension works. It’s designed to attract customers with compelling call-to-action phrases, in this case a special offer that can only be accessed after filling out a lead form.

Advertisers can customize the lead form with their own headline and description and indicate what information they want to ask the customer. Customer information can include any or all of the following:

Customer name
Email
Phone number
Zip code

As shown in the example above, advertisers can even design and upload their own background image for the lead form.

Finally, advertisers can customize the message that appears after a customer submits their information.

Advertisers have the option of communicating their call-to-action phrases in the form of a link to their website or as a direct download. A new Google Ads support page indicates that these extensions can be integrated into advertisers’ CRMs.

Another new support page shows that the lead form extensions in search ads are currently a beta feature that only some businesses are eligible to use. Google says that some sensitive industries and sub-industries are not eligible to use these lead form extensions.
